Mohamad Hariri Abdullah, PhD

Started his journey as a Designer with Malaysian Handicraft after graduated in BA Industrial Design from Institute Technology MARA in 1986. Prof. Hariri has been in design industry since 1986 through involvement as designer and academician. Previously worked as Automotive Designer at Motor Panels UK in 1987 before joining ITM in 1992 as a lecturer in Transport Design at Faculty of Art and Design.

In 1998, completed his MA Automotive Design at Coventry University and worked at Nomad Automation System UK as Design Director then obtained his PhD in Automotive Design Image and Identity from Birmingham City University in 2008. He been attached as Design and Clay Modelling lecturer for Transport Design Department at Coventry University in the UK before joining back UiTM in 2009 till today.

His passion on design were demonstrated through academic, entrepreneurship program, SME industry and involvement as consultant for various design related project. The recognition given to him through invitation to share design knowledge and experiences for community as council board, keynotes speakers, panel discussion, moderator and facilitator for seminar, workshops, and committee for international design summit.

His strong philosophy that ‘Don’t Ask People to Recognised Your Position but Let Them Recognise You Contribution’ become evidences by his appointment as a General Manager for Malaysia Design Council in 2017 under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) till October 2020. Currently serve as a Deputy Vice Chancellor of ICAn – Industry, Community and Alumni Network for University Technology MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.
